Tap Packaging Solutions was launched at the turn
of the Twentieth Century when industrialization was
blossoming across America. Then, as always,
innovation, resourcefullness, and teamwork fueled

1906
The Chilcote Company was founded in 1906 in Cleveland,
Ohio by August A. Chilcote, producing items from
paperboard that were used to display photographs.

1949
The Crown Frame Company joins The Chilcote Company

1955
Acquired Taprell Loomis from Eastman Kodak

1981
The company initiated its’ transformation to major manufacturer with purchase of first full size die cutting press

1984
Established Employee Stock Ownership Plan to perpetuate ownership succession

1992
Continued vertical manufacturing integration by purchasing first offset printing press

1997
Acquired D. Davis Kenny Co. to expand manufacturing capabilities and add Topflight brand of album products

1999
Acquired Winthrop-Atkins to expand production capacity. Introduced markets for promotional products, photo greeting cards and presentation folders

2000
Steuer Foil Stamping Press was added in Cleveland, OH.

2001
Acquired Wooden Nickel Albums Inc. to expand its distribution of photo packaging products. Acquired Lakeview Products to enhance manufacturing capabilities

2003
Acquired Flora Albums to provide premium albums to professional photographers

2004
Relocated Crown Products to Draffenville, KY. and changed name to Crown Photo Products. Opened second location in Carrollton, TX. Awarded ESOP Company of the year by National ESOP Association

2005
Acquired Western Photographic Supply Inc. (“WPSI”) in Garden Grove, CA. and Portland, OR. to increase distribution. Acquired Culver Art & Frame in Columbus, OH. to diversify product line

2006
Celebrated 100th year in business. Acquired Enbee Plastics, Inc. in Long Island City, NY. and moved operation from New York to Middleboro, MA.

2008
Consolidated product lines: TAP, Topflight, Flora & Premira to become Tap Professional. Sold Winthrop-Atkins Promotional Products to Warwick Publishing Co. in St. Charles, IL.

2009
Two DA case making machines were installed at the San Antonio manufacturing facility

2010
An Emmeci rigid box making machine was put into operation in San Antonio

2010
Established Tap Packaging Solutions by consolidating The Chilcote Company and its operating divisions of Taprell Loomis, D. Davis Kenny Co., Graphic Imaginations, and Enbee Plastics

2011
Tap Packaging Solutions launches a stock box line for sale from their website targeting the confection industry. Tap expands sales force to actively pursue customized packaging opportunities.
